NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)

Unit 338 – Don Bosco College, Mannuthy

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 338 of Don Bosco College, Mannuthy, is a vibrant and socially committed community of student volunteers dedicated to serving society, promoting social responsibility, and fostering the holistic development of young people. Guided by the inspiring motto “Not Me, But You,” the unit encourages students to look beyond their individual interests and recognise the importance of collective well-being, compassion, and selfless service.

NSS Unit 338 serves as a dynamic platform for students to transform their knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm into meaningful social action. Through active participation in community-oriented initiatives, volunteers develop leadership qualities, teamwork, discipline, empathy, and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by different sections of society. The unit strives to nurture responsible citizens who are aware of their social obligations and committed to contributing positively to the nation.

The unit actively organises and participates in a wide range of programmes aimed at addressing social and community needs. Awareness campaigns are conducted to educate the public on important social issues, promote responsible behaviour, and encourage informed decision-making. Through environmental protection activities, including cleanliness drives, tree planting, waste management initiatives, and environmental awareness programmes, volunteers contribute towards creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment.

NSS Unit 338 also recognises the importance of health and well-being in building a healthy society. By participating in health awareness campaigns, health camps, and community outreach activities, volunteers help spread awareness about healthy lifestyles, preventive healthcare, hygiene, and the importance of physical and mental well-being. Such initiatives encourage students to become active contributors to the welfare of their communities.

In addition to social service, the unit promotes the personal and professional growth of its volunteers through skill-building workshops, leadership development activities, and collaborative learning opportunities. These programmes help students strengthen their communication, problem-solving, organisational, and interpersonal skills while preparing them to face future challenges with confidence and responsibility.

The unit also places importance on rural outreach and community engagement, enabling volunteers to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, understand local needs, and participate in initiatives that support community development. These experiences cultivate mutual respect, social awareness, and a spirit of solidarity while helping students appreciate the value of inclusive and sustainable development.

At its heart, NSS Unit 338 believes that meaningful change begins with small acts of kindness and a willingness to serve others. Every activity undertaken by the unit reflects its commitment to nurturing compassion, cooperation, civic responsibility, and active citizenship among students. By bringing together enthusiasm, creativity, and a shared sense of purpose, the unit strives to build stronger communities and inspire young people to become agents of positive social transformation.

Join us in shaping a better tomorrow — one step, one smile, one service at a time.
